Jude sets off to do just that, pulling out the cutting board and setting the chicken down after unwrapping it. He does well, considering it being the first time. He had watched Leia's dad, after all.

"Wow, you're good for someone whose new at this," Ludger observes, just a twinge jealous. "Okay, now you want to cook the chicken and then you'll prepare the vegetables next."

"Thank you!" Jude laughs, a little bit red again, and nods again, using the knife to put the chicken onto a plate and set it in the oil to cook. As he's stirring, he asks "What did you grab for vegetables?"

"Peas, carrots, green onions, onions. Are you picky?" He smirks at the thought of Jude of all people being picky.

He blushes again. "I'm not picky! I, ah, I just. Like to know what I eat." He turns his face aside to hide it momentarily, then moves to start on the vegetables. He chops both the onions and the carrots on the second cutting board, then pushed them into a bowl.

"Ah, your cuts are really uniform, that's good," Ludger says. "It took me forever to get this good..." he mumbles, mostly to himself.

This is backfiring, Jude thinks. He turns and shakes his head, smiling wide. "W-Well you know, I... just really tried hard, because I want to impress you!" He admits, praying Ludger doesn't look too deeply into it yet. Not yet. He wants him to see, but the food isn't even done yet. He turns back around and sighs. "Uh... the next step."

Ludger pauses but assumes he's looking too far into it.

"Ok, season the rice with soy sauce and, hm," Ludger pulls out some other spices from the rack and explains in far greater detail than necessary, what each of them are best for.

Jude can feel the relief wash over himself. "...Uhm, that's a lot of spices." He admits, rubbing the back of his neck. "So... I'm going to just use soy sauce if that's alright." He does so, then asks "So next, the chicken?"

"Now you want to combine everything else into one pan and start the eggs," he tells him. Ludger watches him work and is, not for the first time, just a little bit distracted by Jude's butt.

He shifts his weight to the other side and combines the bowls into the pan, stirring it carefully but quickly. He cracks the eggs next, managing it with a shocking amount of expertise. More stuff he'd picked up from Leia's dad. "I'm excited. Hopefully it'll be good."

"It looks great," he mumbles and it's only now sinking in how good Jude is at all this and how long it took him to get this good and he feels a twinge of jealousy, or more like, a giant wave of jealousy, just for a brief moment. But they haven't tasted it yet, and maybe Jude will turn out just as bad as Julius. It's not that he wants Jude to fail, he just wants to be better.

"So, once the eggs are scrambled and cooked you'll just add them to everything and it should be good, unless you need to add seasoning," Ludger says.

Jude can't help but worry he's not doing this right, like maybe he should screw up the dish somehow like Alvin suggested he should, but he couldn't do that himself or Ludger. He wants nothing more than to make Ludger proud, but... it's not making him proud. He can tell it's making him sad. He nods at the instructions and works on the eggs, then adds them in. He allows it to cook for a while, thinking on how he could possibly fix this whole thing--nothing comes to mind and they take the pan off of the heat to let it cool a while.

"See? Easy." Ludger smiles at him, pushing any thoughts of jealousy from his mind. "You've got some knack for cooking, you probably didn't even need my help," and it sounds a bit more self depricating than he means it too. "Once it cools a bit we can eat."

"N-No way, I really did need your help! I know some basics, sure, but it's because I hung around Leia's house all the time." He explains. "I don't know the order or how to season things right, and you're really good with it."

"Ah, if you're sure, you're really naturally good, though.." Ludger smiles at him regardless. "I'm not...the best at baking, but after we eat we could try to make a simple cake," he offers.

"It does... mean a lot you say that, though." He admits, but looks to him again. "I don't know. I think I might done 'showing off'." He teases, looking aside.

Ludger flushes red and suddenly is all too aware of how childish he must seem. He averts his eyes, embarrassed.

"I think the food should be cool enough to eat now, do you want to try it?"

Admittedly that last line was a little mean, but Ludger blushing like that was pretty worth it. "Yeah, it should be good now." He serves the plates up and sets up the table for them both. He takes a bite of his and grins. "It's good!"

Ludger nods in agreement. Pretty good, Jude really must have a knack for cooking.

"We can do this again, sometime, if you want," Ludger offers. "...but you have to bring your own apron," he teases.

"Hehe. Maybe another time... but how about, next time, we work together. I bet we'd be able to make something really good if we cooperated." His eyes basically sparkle at that idea.

"Maybe. Though I'm... not super sure of a lot of them." He admits. "But with you there, I think we could make anything." Flattery hopefully could get him everywhere, though he did definitely mean it.

Ludger blushed slightly, but nodded. He was somewhat embarrassed that in between their talking he had managed to devour his entire plate of food, which wasn't entirely unusual for him but, somehow, the idea of eating something Jude had cooked for him had made it especially good

"Is Alvin any good at cooking?" Ludger asked suddenly.

"Not even a little bit." He says, laughing. "He can make ramen. And he can make stuff in the toaster. The end." He explains, then takes another bite. He finishes his own in due time.
