Re: A Totally Coincidental Meeting

Damen knows better than to venture into this side of the world. He knows better, but that's never stopped him from doing it before now, and it's certainly not stopped him this time. He has slept with and attempted to drink from gargoyles and it was divine.

Damen watched as Hadrien got into a fight that he might not win. But what fun is it to step in immediately? Might as well swoop in at the last moment.

Hadrien handles it for most of the blows, though more than one hits connect with his comparably fragile frame. Each one knocks him to the ground, and he gets up slower each time. It takes maybe four minutes at the most for him to be left there, panting. The gargoyle cracks his knuckles and spits at the ground by the vampire.

Damen jumps down from his perch, landing in between them.

"Hey there, friend, bored yet? I'm tagging my friend out, so you can fight me if you want." Damen cracked his neck in anticipation.

"What the fuck? Who are you?" Shouts the gargoyle, glaring down the short vampire. "You his boyfriend, bomb-pop?"

Hadrien, lungs still regenerating from one of the shattering hits, stares up at Damen, feeling only a small amount of surprise at his arrival.

"Man, after this? I had better be his boyfriend," he laughed loudly. "So. Two choices. You leave, or I kill you. And I really hope you decide to fight me cause I haven't had the chance to kill someone in a while."

Hadrien, pushing himself off the ground, snorts in the background.

The gargoyle frowns, deeply angered, but not willing to risk his own life for this bullshit. "You better get outta here, because there's more than just me out here. Boss doesn't take kindly to you fangs. And you tell Vera she's dead meat." He hoofs it, spreading out his wings.

"...boyfriend might be a little much, but I am appreciative."

"I know. I'll repay you when I can, but," He says, fixing his ponytail and picking up the toppled glasses from the ground. "I still have to meet the contact. It's getting darker, and the people here prefer it. As demonstrated by Rocky 4 there." He starts to walk, heading for a strip mall a little ways in the distance. It's visible from where they are, but only faintly.

"Can I come? If anyone fucks with you, I'll just kill them next time." He grinned widely as he walked next to him.

"If you promise to be good." He smirks.

"I don't think killing them will be a good idea, though; people here hate us enough, murder won't help." He explains, pulling out his phone to examine the time. "...so, be careful."

"Augh, I guess." Damen replied, seeming bored again already. "Shoulda killed the first guy, he started it, I would've been in the right..."

"The lug might've started it, but it's his boss's fault. I dislike killing people." He admits, sighing at the concept of it. "Do you see someone outside the nail place? I can't see that far." He tips down his sunglasses to leer into the distance.

He nods, pursing his lips, and stuffs his hands into his pockets, raising his left arm. The person responds with their right, and he sighs a little bit in relief. He steps forward and so do they, a small woman with a wide frame and kind looking face. She sighs and hands him over a little pocketbook, then skitters away before anyone can really notice their interaction.

A small job, but no less dangerous than any big ones.

"She just gets the requests. I don't know who actually asked, but she just sent me to do it because I was there and competent. It's how it goes, and unfortunately I've been through worse. Usually," he coughs, adjusting his collar, "I can convince them, but that's usually not jobs out here."

Damen narrowed his eyes but said nothing more on the matter. Maybe he'd talk to Vera later.

"So, tough guy, now that you're done with that, wanna head back to my place?"

Hadrian stifles a laugh at that. "Tough guy? A little rude." He remarks, heaving a sigh and starting to walk along the path back. "...better lead the way, wise guy."

Damen grinned. "No problem. Follow me."

Damen walked at a stupidly leisurely pace, but for a vampire it meant get was still pretty quick.

Along the way he said, "so, you like working for Vera, or is it just a job, or what?"

"It's more a job than anything." He states, rubbing his neck. "She's harsh. And loud. I've only met her once or twice, maybe three times, and each time I've had to take hours to recoup." He groans.

"I do it because there's not many other places for a vampire, and mostly because she watched me turn. Or turned me. I don't remember dying, so."

"Ha. Come on, you're a vampire though. There's gotta be tons of other places you could go," Damen offered, but truthfully, he didn't really understand why it was such a big deal.

"There really isn't. People either don't know vampires are even around, or hate them. It's just easier to be a lackey." He admits. "I'm sure there's somewhere, yeah, but I don't know how badly I'd actually want out."

Damen shrugged.

"I should visit..." he said, mostly to himself. "I...hm." Damen grew uncharacteristically quiet as he thought about any possible memories of Greece in his mind, but coming up blank, as he always did when he tried to think of anything from his past. Typically it did not bother him, but when it came to this particular instance, he was much too curious about why he would desire to go someplace that, as far as he knew, he had never been. Perhaps it was his birth place, and that was why he was drawn there?
